Desmond Jones Grand Rapids Concert reviews
A little disappointing
I believe that most fans prefer Desmond Jones' authentic and original sound, although I, a long-time fan, was disappointed by the experimental songs and styles showcased at the recent show. Fans expect their favorite bands to stay true to their music, even as artists explore new horizons. The audience reacted enthusiastically to the familiar tunes, but during the unfamiliar tracks, confusion seemed to reign, with listeners mostly standing and watching. The performance included moments that felt like a blend of experimental-African-fusion-groove, which was quite unusual. I have immense respect for Desmond Jones and their artistic journey but hope for a return to their raw, passionate, and original essence during the next show.
